Miss Asia Pacific Int. * Jamaica * Daisi “Jo” Pollard
The Miss Asia Pacific International pageant is considered the oldest pageant based in Asia. In 2005, in honor of its 36th year, the Miss Asia Pacific International pageant expanded it global reach when it invited more than 55 countries to compete for the first time in mainland China in the Guangdong Province and the city of Guangzhou.
Daisi “Jo” Pollard made Jamaica part of this historical event. It was also the first time Jamaica was to have a representative at Miss Asia Pacific International along with several other Caribbean, South American and African countries to follow.
The purpose of the pageant was to promote leisure, travel and tourism of South China region.
Our journey through South China included official duties such as tours of the Gudou Hot Springs Resort, Clifford Golden Lake Hotel, Long Chan Resort and the Oriental Dong Fang Hotel. During our tour we appearances and presentations at numerous regional and national treasures including Birds' Paradise in Xinhui, the Kaiping Garden, the Palm Garden and the TianHe Stadium.
